Turkmen paralympic athletes continue to compete for slots in Paris 2024 Paralympic Games

«Türkmenistan Sport», № 4 (16), 2022 The delegation of the National Paralympic Committee of Turkmenistan, led by Head Coach in Para Powerlifting, Honoured Coach of Turkmenistan Tahyr Shorahanov, came back from Georgia, where it performed at the World Para Powerlifting European Open Championships together with 30 participating nations. These competitions are the mandatory qualifying event of the second stage of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. Our athletes won 5 medals: 3 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze.

Turkmen delegation participates in 41st OCA General Assembly

«Türkmenistan Sport», № 4 (16), 2022 On October 3-5, 2022, the delegation of Turkmenistan led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs B. Myatiev paid a working visit to Phnom Penh, Kingdom of Cambodia to participate in the 41st General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia. According to the agenda, the committees of the Olympic Council of Asia and the organizing committees of the Summer and Winter Asian Games presented their reports. The General Assembly focused on the promotion of cooperation in sports in the Asian region, the exchange of best practices in the preparation of athletes, the role of sport in ensuring peace, the principles of respect and the expansion of opportunities for social integration. The partcipants discussed the possibilities of holding major international sporting events in Turkmenistan in the coming years.

Sensations and discoveries of World Sambo Championships 2022 in Bishkek

«Türkmenistan Sport», № 4 (16), 2022 The World Sambo Championships were held in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) from 11 to 13 November. Sambists from 50 countries and the refugee team fought for the right to stand on the pedestal. In total, about 500 athletes performed at the World Championships.

Egypt to Host 2023 World Sambo Championships, Dominican Republic to Host 2023 World Beach Sambo Championships

This decision was adopted by the Executive Board of the International Sambo Federation. The Dominican Republic will host the World Beach Sambo Championships in August. Also, the decisions on the date and place of other competitions were adopted. According to the draft international calendar, the Asian and Oceania Beach Sambo Championships, which will be held in Bahrain in February, will open the year.

This remarkable achievement was gained in the under 64 kg category by a serviceman from Malikguly Berdimuhamedov military unit 1001 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Master of Sports from Ashgabat Muhammet Kossekov.

Referee from Indonesia receives FIAS Porcelain Whistle

«Türkmenistan Sport», № 4 (16), 2022 The solemn award ceremony of the FIAS Porcelain Whistle to the best referee of the year took place on November 13 as part of the World SAMBO Championships 2022, which was held in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan). By the decision of the Technical Commission of the International Sambo Federation, Maria Stella Rosario from Indonesia received this award.

Children of Asia – the Beginning of Victories

«Türkmenistan Sport», № 3 (15), 2022 Young Turkmen athletes showed excellent results at the 7th Children of Asia International Games, which were held in Vladivostok. The Turkmenistan national team won 16 medals (2 gold, 3 silver and 11 bronze ones) at the magnificent sports festival. Our compatriots won 2 medals in the athletics tournament (a gold medal in the 3,000-metre run and a bronze medal in the 1,500-metre run) and a silver medal in the table tennis tournament. Wrestlers brought 13 more medals to the treasury of the Turkmenistan team. The Turkmen team took the tenth place in the team event. This is a great international success for the young athletes of our country in the year «The Era of the People with Arkadag».

The National Anti-Doping Agency of Turkmenistan conducts educational seminars for athletes, coaches and sports experts to explain the dangers of doping for health, the rights and obligations of athletes, the list of substances and methods prohibited by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the anti-doping rules and the doping control procedure.
