The competition for the Women's Handball Cup of Turkmenistan is underway. Seven teams take part in the tournament, which started on November 13. The good news from the headquarters of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Paris, France) was announced at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held on November 2, 2023. The Turkmen capital, Ashgabat, joined the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN), following its designation by UNESCO Director-General on October 31 – the World Cities Day. As is known, Turkmenistan started work in this field in 2021 together with the relevant structures, committees and international experts from UNESCO. Over the years, the international community has recognized Ashgabat as a beautiful, technologically advanced city in the world. The Turkmen capital was developing according to modern international urban standards, and it was given the above-mentioned legal status.

Turkmenistan prepares for the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birthday of Magtymguly Pyragy in 2024. This fact demonstrates great value of the creativity of the poet and thinker, which is aimed at high humanitarian goals. At the meeting of the Permanent Council of the International Organisation of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), held in the city of Bursa of the Republic of Türkiye, its participants declared 2024 ‘the Year of the Great Poet and Thinker of the Turkic World – Magtymguly Pyragy’ and the ancient Turkmen town of Anau – the cultural capital of the Turkic world for 2024. These historic events will contribute to the development of friendly and brotherly relations between peoples, strengthen the cultural cooperation, mark the 300th anniversary of the birthday of our great poet and thinker Magtymguly Pyragy, and promote his literary heritage. Humanist views in the poems by Magtymguly Pyragy have not lost their value. Moreover, the poet's poems and manuscripts entered the UNESCO's (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) Memory of the World Register. The 300th anniversary of the birthday of Magtymguly Pyragy was included in the list of memorable dates in the celebration of UNESCO for 2024–2025. The Mollanepes branch of the centralized library system of the Ashgabat Culture Department organizes the events in honour of the 300th anniversary of the birthday of Magtymguly Pyragy. Literary evenings, art readings, creative meetings are dedicated to the poem ‘Ocean of Wisdom of Magtymguly Pyragy’ by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, and other cultural events are held on a regular basis. A valuable guide

The Exhibition Centre of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted the International Exhibition ‘Healthcare, Education and Sports in the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State’ on October 10-12 and, within its framework, a scientific conference timed to coincide with the Day of Health Workers and the Medical Industry, widely celebrated in our country. Within the framework of the exhibition, a presentation of Volume XV of the encyclopaedic work by the Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, Doctor of Medicine, Professor Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov ‘Medicinal Plants of Turkmenistan’, published on the eve of the professional holiday of healthcare workers of the country, took place. This work gives an opportunity to promote medicinal plants growing in our country. At the same time, it is a huge contribution to the development of the national medicine and the world pharmacology and phytotherapy.

Impressive results of our compatriots

The athletes from Turkmenistan won 19 medals at the Uzbekistan Open Kickboxing Championship. 26 Turkmen athletes prepared under the leadership of Orazmuhammet Komekov and Ruslan Chuliyev and took part in the competition for medals in 4 disciplines (point fighting, kick light, low kick and full contact) in 10 weight class events. Thus, Jasurbek Ahmedov (32 kg, point fighting and kick light events), Nepes Byashimov (48 kg, low kick event), Shahruh Sheraliyev (51 kg, low kick event), Salamathan Baltaev (74 kg, kick light event), and Serdar Berdimyradov (86 kg, low kick event) won gold medals. Zaravshan Yangibaev (57 kg, full contact event), Muhammetberdi Allaberdiyev (63.5 kg , low kick event), Akmyrat Akmyradov (67 kg, low kick event), Muhammetaly Ovezov (69 kg, kick light event), Atajan Rozyev (71 kg, low kick event), and Narzulla Bazarov (71 kg, low kick event) earned silver medals.
