Multilateral Cooperation for Regional Stability

The solemn ceremonies which took place on the Turkmen-Afghan border on September 11, 2024 became the landmark events for the future of Afghanistan and the region. The ground-breaking and opening ceremonies of seven energy, transport, communication and logistics infrastructure facilities mark new strategic opportunities for strengthening regional security and sustainable development in Central and South Asia and in neighbouring countries. In his speech at the festive ceremony, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasised, “We have embarked on a great path – we are at the beginning of a new historical period. In the future, we will have to implement many more new projects that show much promise for the two brotherly countries and peoples and for other states.”

Masterpieces of Italian Opera

An Italian tenor Matteo Lippi performed in a concert at Magtymguly National Music and Drama Theatre. The musical event marked the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Embassy of Italy in Turkmenistan and the centenary of the death of the famous Italian composer, organist and choirmaster Giacomo Puccini. The event was organised by the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan and the Embassy of Italy to Turkmenistan. Together with the guest, the Turkmen opera soloists Bahar Durdiyeva and Gozel Annahanova, accompanied by the State Symphony Orchestra of Turkmenistan conducted by Rasul Klychev, performed the works of the Italian maestro.

Achievements of Turkmen Athletes

The Turkmen athletes successfully performed at the Youth World Kickboxing Championships, which took place in the capital of Hungary, Budapest. 3,600 athletes from 69 countries participated in the tournament. The Turkmenistan team consisted of 17 athletes from Ashgabat and the Dashoguz and Lebap velayats. They won five medals: one gold, one silver and three bronze ones. In an interview with an NT correspondent, a coach at sports school 6 from Turkmenabat Zakir Atajanov told that our boys had proved that they had prepared well for the fights with rivals from other countries. Jasur Ahmedov, who performed in the under 37 kg weight category of the light kick event, showed the best result. He left his opponents – Razi Shomama from Israel, Shuymur Guliyev from Azerbaijan and Edward Flanagan from the United Kingdom – no chance to win in the first three fights, winning with the same score 3-0. However, it was not easy to fight in the final for the world title. His opponent was a kickboxer from Uzbekistan Aziz Yuldashev, who demonstrated high skill. He lost 2-1 to our athlete. An athlete from Ashgabat Ymamguly Rejepov stood on the third step of the podium in the same event. He defeated his opponents Gabriel Golian from Poland and Nizami Aliyev from Azerbaijan in the under 37 kg weight category, but he lost to an Uzbek athlete Aziz Yuldashev, who won a silver medal, in the semi-fin

The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Honorary Elder Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov made a working visit to the city of Arkadag, where he conducted a working meeting with the participation of relevant officials and acquainted himself with the projects of road and transport infrastructure facilities. New International Awards of the City of Arkadag

In order to participate in the World Smart City Expo on the basis of the relevant Order recently signed by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, to meet in the Republic of Korea with manufacturers of medical equipment needed to form the medical cluster of the city of Arkadag and to acquaint themselves with specialised factories on the ground, members of the delegation of Turkmenistan these days paid a working visit to the city of Seoul, Republic of Korea. At the World Smart City Expo held simultaneously with the visit, the Turkmen delegation presented a pavilion devoted to the smart city of Arkadag, which as a result received three awards. In the World Smart City Expo, representatives of the provinces of the Republic of Korea, local and foreign companies and various foreign countries, including Turkmenistan, the People’s Republic of China, Japan, Malaysia, the Kingdom of Thailand, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Kingdom of Denmark, Finland and the State of Israel took part. The exhibition featured 116 pavilions with the participation of representatives at the level of ministers, deputy ministers and governors from more than 60 countries.

The Investment Forum of Turkmenistan, the International Conference on attracting high technologies and innovations to the economy of Turkmenistan “HI-TECH Turkmenistan 2024” and specialised exhibitions were held in the capital. The agenda of large-scale business events, jointly organised by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Finance and Economy and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, included issues related to the implementation of major projects in the country and the further development of international cooperation in this sphere. Among the foreign delegates were international experts, heads and representatives of leading companies specialising in the oil and gas, energy, construction, transport and communications sectors, authoritative organisations, financial institutions and research centres. Festive Events Marking the Day of Knowledge and Student Youth

Having officially adopted all 17 SDGs and adapted them to its national plans and socioeconomic strategies, Turkmenistan strives to fully promote the expansion of constructive international cooperation that meets the interests of universal wellbeing and progress. This is confirmed in the Priority Positions of our country at the forthcoming 79th session of the UN General Assembly, which will begin its work at the United Nations headquarters in New York in September this year.
