Our compatriots successfully competed in the 8th WKF Karate Championship of Central Asia held in Bishkek, the capital of the Kyrgyz Republic. Over 200 athletes took part in the Championship, and 24 karatekas represented Turkmenistan. Our compatriots won 11 medals at the Championship of Central Asia, namely, two gold medals, one silver medal, and eight bronze medals.
Yslam Annaorazov, a 10-grader at the specialized secondary school 1 in Gokdepe Etrap, Ahal Velayat, competed in the kata event for 16-17-year-old athletes and earned a gold medal. Gurbannazar Gurbannazarov, a 10-grader at the secondary school 20 in Bayramaly, Mary Velayat, achieved the highest result in the 63-kilogramme weight class event (kumite) for 14-15-year-old athletes.
