Highways are an integral part of the transport infrastructure of Turkmenistan. They serve not only for internal freight transportation flows, but also for mutually beneficial international cooperation. An effective example is the Ashgabat–Turkmenabat highway – a key hub of international transportation, which allows improving significantly the transportation of transit goods in the Central Asian region.

As President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasises, “The completion of the construction of the Ashgabat–Turkmenabat highway will provide an opportunity to significantly increase the throughput capacity of the country’s transport system and the quality of logistics services. Improving the transport system, in turn, will have a huge impact on the national economy’s dynamics.”
