The State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of Turkmenistan conducted large-scale preparatory work jointly with the Tennis Federation of Turkmenistan and the Asian Tennis Federation to hold this international tournament at the high organisational level.

«Türkmenistan Sport», № 2 (18), 2023 Turkmen athletes will represent their country in 9 disciplines in the II CIS Games, which will take place in Belarus from 4 to 14 August. According to the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports, Turkmenistan will send the delegations in such sports as weightlifting, sambo, karate, judo, wrestling, boxing, athletics, swimming and Thai boxing.

«Türkmenistan Sport», № 2 (18), 2023 After the conclusion of the fifth day and 14th event at the IWF World Youth Championships in Durres, Turkmenistan is the second most medalled country in Albania, with a total of 10 awards, six of them gold. The Philippines are the actual leaders of the medal chart, with 12 podium presences (including seven victories). The latest success for the Asian nation came in the women’s 64kg, where Gulalek Kakamyradova got a bronze in the snatch, lifting 88kg. With three days to go, Turkmen officials hope that more top-3 finishes will come.

Moreover, great importance has been attached to the construction of modern sports halls and water sports complexes in the villages, towns, and regional centres in recent years. The Ashgabat Olympic Village is the largest complex of sports facilities in Central Asia. The Village has become an amazing decoration of the Turkmen capital. Excellent conditions are provided at the Olympic Village for athletes to hold the training sessions.

300th birth anniversary of poet Magtymguly Fraghi to be included in UNESCO’s list of international commemorations in 2024-2025

«7/24 tm». № 24 (159) 12.06.2023 At its 216th session, the UNESCO Executive Board approved the proposals from Member States for the celebration of anniversaries in 2024-2025 with which UNESCO could be associated. Following the discussion, the Executive Board considered and recommended to the General Conference that UNESCO be associated with the celebration of 46 anniversaries. These include the proposal on the 300th birth anniversary of the poet Magtymguly Fraghi submitted by Turkmenistan with the support of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Ukraine

Bright Victory of Turkmen Tennis Players

The Central Asian team tennis championships taking place on the courts of the Olympic Complex, in which boys and girls under 12 years old from Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are taking part, are coming to an end in Ashgabat. For the second time, Turkmenistan hosts the regional tournament held under the auspices of the International (ITF) and Asian (ATF) Tennis Federations. Four years ago, at the same championships of Central Asia in Ashgabat, our teams of boys and girls took the third place. And the day before, Turkmen tennis players took a serious step towards winning silver medals, defeating the team of Uzbekistan for the first time in history.

The President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov set a priority goal to establish the necessary conditions for the youth to continue the development and transformations in the revival of the new epoch of the powerful state. The work on attracting young people to the development of the national economy is implemented within the youth policy in our independent, permanently neutral country. In this context, the goals defined in the State Programme on State Youth Policy in Turkmenistan for 2021–2025, as well as in the Concept of Digital Economy Development in Turkmenistan for 2019–2025 and other relevant programmes and plans, meet the requirements of the times.

Languages build the bridges of friendship

The Turkmen people have a wise saying ‘One who speaks only one language is one person, but one who speaks two languages is two people’. Our ancestors learnt other languages along with their mother tongue. Many poets and scientists created in the Arabic, Persian, Hindi, and German languages. This tradition comes from the times of our ancestors and has special importance thanks to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov in the revival of the new epoch of the powerful state. Multilingualism is emerging in the country. For example, a number of students of Magtymguly Turkmen State University speak 3-4 languages fluently. The President of Turkmenistan instructed to learn the English, Russian, Chinese and German languages not only in the field of linguistics, but also in other fields such as technology and economics. To date, excellent conditions and opportunities are created to implement this task in our country.
