Food Abundance – the Groundwork for Economic Growth

The key indicators of successful socioeconomic reforms and a balanced state policy include a wide choice of and access to competitive high-quality goods in the consumer market. Further steps to achieve food abundance are set forth in the Programme “Revival of the New Era of the Powerful State: The National Programme of the Socioeconomic Development of Turkmenistan for 2022–2052” and the Socioeconomic Development Programme of the President of Turkmenistan for 2022–2028. A key component in improving the quality of life of the people of Turkmenistan is the supply of high-quality eco-friendly food commodities. This is primarily because the quality of food determines the health of the nation, has an impact on the demographic situation and is a basic element of national security. The country is taking large-scale, consistent measures to comprehensively support domestic producers.

The сhildren will have something to remember

The boys and girls of the Murgab Valley, who spent at least part of their summer holidays at the Children’s Health and Recreation Centre Arkadagyň Bagtyýar Nesilleri, will have something to remember about these days which are full of interesting events. Probably, many have already shared their impressions with their close friends and peers. The Health and Recreation Centre has already begun receiving the third shift of children. Until the end of the health season or the summer holidays to be precise, 900 young residents of the Mary land will rest there and gain strength before the new academic year. “We have all the possibilities for a good rest for children,” says Guljahan Charykuliyeva, director of the Arkadagyň Bagtyýar Nesilleri Centre. “The fact is that in 2015, after a large-scale reconstruction, several modern buildings appeared on the territory of the Centre. In addition to the sleeping quarters in these buildings, places were also organised for the work of various clubs of vacationers’ interest. They are intended for those who wish to learn the basics of cutting and sewing and are engaged in playing draughts and chess or drawing, while others spend their time in a spacious gym, working out on various sports equipment or reinforcing their table tennis skills. Blessed Land of Arkadag

A young graduate architect Arslan Annamuhammedov works as the chief specialist of the coordinating department of industrial construction and communications of the hyakimlik of the city of Arkadag. Now his job is to control the preparation of tender documentation – this is a set of documents containing an invitation to bidding, information on the facility, subject and conditions of the bidding, instructions to its participants and proposals on the terms for transferring the order to the winner for the performance of work specified in the subject of the bidding. However, as an acting architect, he has already showed himself in the urban planning of the new city – the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre in the city of Arkadag is an embodied project of five architects, one of whom was him. The head of this project is the head of the architectural department of the Ministry of Construction and Architecture of Turkmenistan Tirkesh Tajiyev.

Heartfelt Gratitude from Mother

These the words that the letters addressed to the National Leader of the Turkmen people Hero-Arkadag and respected President Serdar Berdimuhamedov begin with. Their authors are the mothers whose children are under the auspices of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Aid to Children in Need of Guardianship. Young citizens of Turkmenistan who needed complex and urgent medical care have undergone the treatment and rehabilitation courses and surgeries, including those that have never been performed in our country before. The leading foreign experts, for the most part from Germany, were engaged in providing consultations and sharing experience with their Turkmen counterparts. All the costs associated with the medical care and rehabilitation of children were covered by the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Aid to Children in Need of Guardianship.

For Progress, Friendship and Cooperation

In the panorama of the events of the past days, the fruits of the state policy in the field of the development of friendship and cooperation of Turkic culture were brightly highlighted. The presentation on June 28 by the Secretary General of the Union of Engineers and Architects of the Turkic World, who had arrived in our country to participate in the celebrations on the occasion of the opening of the city of Arkadag, to the President of the country Serdar Berdimuhamedov of the medal “For Outstanding Services to the Turkic World” was evidence of the recognition of the merits of Arkadagly Serdar in the development of Turkic culture. It fills our hearts with special pride that on the same day, the Secretaries General of the International Organisation of Turkic Culture and the Union of Engineers and Architects of the Turkic World awarded the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with the highest award of the organisation “Order of TURKSOY” and the medal “For Outstanding Services to the Turkic World” of the Union of Engineers and Architects of the Turkic World. The strengthening of fraternal relations with the member countries of TURKSOY is attached a special importance in the foreign-policy strategy of the Turkmen state.

“Smart” Arkadag City – a City of New Opportunities

Thanks to the large-scale undertakings of the Hero-Arkadag, successfully implemented under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, our country is taking comprehensive measures to boost digital transformation in key sectors of the national economy. Progressive economic reforms are reflected in the Programme “Revival of the New Era of the Powerful State: The National Socioeconomic Development Programme of Turkmenistan in 2022–2052” and the Programme of the President of Turkmenistan of Socioeconomic Development in 2022–2028. The current stage of socioeconomic reforms in Turkmenistan is characterised by the implementation of large-scale initiatives aimed at economic modernisation and transition to a new industrial path, the main goal of which is to build a modern structure based on innovation and focusing on sustainable development. The Conception of the Development of Digital Economy in Turkmenistan in 2019–2025 and the State Programme of the Development of Digital Economy in Turkmenistan for 2021–2025 define digital transformation as a priority for sustainable development and the groundwork for the innovative development of the country.

30 Years of Cooperation

In the period of the Revival of the New Era of the Powerful State under the leadership of the respected President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, special attention is paid to the wide study, popularisation and preservation of the national cultural and spiritual heritage of the Turkmen people. This is evidenced by the expanding fruitful cooperation between Turkmenistan and UNESCO. It is a specialised body of the United Nations for education, science and culture. Turkmenistan became a full member of UNESCO in August 1993, after ratifying the relevant document. This year marks the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s membership in UNESCO. Over the past years, a reliable international legal framework for cooperation between Turkmenistan and UNESCO has been formed. In 1994, our country joined the UNESCO Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage. A significant practical step in the implementation of the obligations assumed was the adoption of the Laws of Turkmenistan “On the Protection of Objects of National Historical and Cultural Heritage”, “On the Protection of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage”, “On the Protection, Export and Import of Movable Values of the National Historical and Cultural Heritage”, “On the Folk Art of Turkmenistan” and others.

Hajj of Hero-Arkadag - a symbol of continuity of primordial traditions

Today National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty, honourable elder Hajy Arkadag, having made a hajj, took part in the gurbanlyk-sadaka, which was given on this sacred land. According to the program of his stay, Hajy Arkadag and members of the Turkmen delegation familiarised themselves with the beauty and magnificence of the Mecca and features of its architectural constructions.

In support of the earth water resources An online presentation of the UN World Water Development Report for 2023 was broadcast for our region by the UNESCO Cluster Office in Almaty, Kazakhstan, with the assistance of the Central Asian Regional Water Network (Сar@wan) that seeks to unite stakeholders, to promote the principles of integrated water management and to create a scientific and information platform. The presentation was linked with the achievements of the SDG 6 indicators. Exchanging views, the representatives of the regional water community of Central Asia expressed support for the global theses put forward: water is at the core of sustainable development and adaptation to climate change, and conservation and sustainable water use are the basis for a prosperous future for current and future generations. Until 2012, the Report was issued every three years, then, based on the global survey results, the UN-Water mechanism participants decided to change the reporting frequency to an annual one. Specialists, scientists, builders and hydraulic engineers, environmentalists and climatologists study the report findings on a global scale and in their regions.

In Mountain Gorge

With the onset of the hot summer – the most wonderful season of school holidays – the children’s recreation centres in the Balkan velayat, including Dürdäne, located in a picturesque mountain gorge near the administrative centre of Kizylarvat etrap, resumed their work. It was built and put into operation at the initiative of the Hero-Arkadag in 2016 and is designed for 300 visitors. This is a complex of a children’s kingdom, including a computer class, a cinema, a library with a reading room, a swimming pool and sports grounds designed for children to recreate and do sports.

Water is of Paramount Importance The 84th meeting of the Interstate Coordinating Water Commission (ICWC) of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS) was devoted to approving the water withdrawal limits for the five countries of the Central Asian region and forecasting the operation mode of reservoir cascades for the growing season of 2023 in the Amudarya and Syrdarya basins. The meeting took place in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, which chairs the Fund, which, in turn, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year with the participation of representatives of all member countries of the Fund, including Turkmenistan. Our country was represented by employees of the State Committee for Water Management. During the meeting, devoted to the results of the use of limits and modes of operation of reservoirs for the non-growing period of 2022–2023 for the river basins, representatives of the Amudarya and Syrdarya Basin Water Associations presented a message. These decisions were made at the previous meeting of the ICWC, which was held in Ashgabat on November 22 last year, where a water intake was installed on the Amudarya River for Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan and in the Syrdarya basin for Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Welcoming Summer

A particularly long-awaited time for schoolchildren is approaching – the beginning of the summer season at children’s health centres, of which there are about thirty in our country in total. Most of them are located near Ashgabat: in the unique natural health resort Geokdere in a kind of “bowl” formed by the foothills of the Kopetdag Mountains, eight - on the Caspian coast, in Avaza and Hazar, and the remaining five - in the velayats. The readiness of all children’s health resorts for the beginning of the summer season is known to have been discussed at a sitting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, held last Friday in a digital format. It was emphasised that owing to the tireless care of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for the younger generation, children in our country lived a happy life. Every year during the summer vacation season, they can fully relax and strengthen their health at health centres in various parts of our country, where targeted events, aimed at the harmonious development of children, the identification and disclosure of their multifaceted talents and capabilities, are traditionally held.

Maternal Love — Eternal Light

Maternal love is like eternal light which enlightens her children’s lives in her absence as well. So if love of mothers has such power it results in that it is something, which is rather complicated to define it. Actually, when the talk is about love, I remember an English proverb: «Love is blind». Here meaning of «love» is not only maternal, but in abstract manner. As someone falls in love with someone, he or she sees her/him as an ideal one. Because love has such kind of power. It «covers» your eyes and you are unable to see her/his shortcomings rather than only good manners. As they say, love is something, which is almost impossible to explain what actually it is. When it comes to love of mothers, it gets more difficult to explain the meaning of it since love among people can burn out one day but maternal love never.
