Six bronze medals were awarded to Turkmen school students who took part in the First Abu Rayhan al-Biruni International Chemistry Olympiad.

This honorary status was given to an intellectual competition in honour of the merits of a medieval scientist, the author of a phenomenal number of major encyclopaedic works on history, geography, philology, astronomy, mathematics, geodesy, mineralogy, geology, pharmacology and many other sciences. Biruni is known to be the first in the East who said that the Earth revolves around the Sun and determined the size of its circumference.
