Good news came from Korumdu town (Issyk-Kul, Kyrgyzstan), where the Central Asia Youth U8-U16 Chess Championships ended yesterday. The Turkmen young adherents of the ancient intellectual game added two, gold and silver, medals to our country’s collection of the sporting achievements, the Chess Federation of Turkmenistan reports.
The success of our chess players is also significant because over 300 participants competed for the awards – 128 from the host country, 98 from Kazakhstan, 69 from Uzbekistan and only 5 Turkmen juniors. Looking ahead, I will say that this achievement secured Turkmenistan an honourable third place in the overall team standings.
