Intangible and tangible values and history written by great ancestors through creating artworks of incredibly beauty – Turkmenistan preserves all this. Domestic decorative and applied arts and craftsmanship are becoming increasingly popular both in the country and abroad. The country’s leadership provides comprehensive support to this area and creates new opportunities for reviving and widely popularising national crafts and traditional manufacture, which contributes to expanding the ranks of craftsmen.
This vividly illustrated by the closing ceremony of the annual contest “Asyrlara ýörelge – nesillere görelde”. The event was organised by the Ministry of Culture and the Central Council of Magtymguly Youth Organisation of Turkmenistan at the Centre for Public Organisations. The goals and objectives of the contest are to reveal and support bearers and custodians of national traditions, to preserve and actualise intangible cultural heritage and to pass genuine specimens of national culture and traditions on to young people.
