In Turkmenistan, World Health Day is celebrated on April 7 every year. This international date became a national celebration on the initiative of the President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and was introduced to the national holiday calendar. Traditionally, on the occasion of World Health Day, mass physical culture and sports events, including cultural and recreational activities, conferences, round-table meetings devoted to the issues of strengthening and promoting health are held in Turkmenistan.

As it is known, on March 26, 2021 at a sitting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, the highly respected President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov issued a Resolution on the approval of the Saglyk State Programme in the new edition and the Action Plan for its implementation for 2021–2025. The event became another confirmation of the firmness of the state policy, successfully pursued under the leadership of Arkadag, the main priority of which is the health of the people.
