Occupying a favourable geographical position at the intersection of international transport networks along the North–South and East–West routes using various modes of transport, Turkmenistan has a solid transport and transit potential and is pursuing a consistent course towards its development and efficient use. Taking into account the priorities of the transport policy, important decisions in this strategic sphere were considered and adopted at the sitting of the Cabinet of Ministers on January 14.
The Programme of Transport Diplomacy Development of the President of Turkmenistan for 2022–2025, approved by the Resolution of the head of state, is aimed at the further effective use of the potential of the transport sector and the development of international cooperation. In order to strengthen the national maritime fleet, Turkmenistan is building two Ro-Ro vessels for the transportation of oversized cargo over long distances and one cargo ship. For the development of the industry, the President of Turkmenistan also approved proposals related to the accession of our country to the agreements on the International Transit Tariff and the Uniform Transit Tariff of the Organisation for Cooperation between Railways.
