Since ancient times, the Turkmen people have treated books with great respect and honour. In the work by N. Saryhanov, a single book was exchanged for a camel. Our ancestors always had a great demand for books.

Although the libraries in Nisa, Koneurgench, Amul, Dehistan and Merv have not survived, the Turkmen people have created stories, legends, parables, and tales with deep meaning that are easy to remember and retell.
