The 2023 Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships have recently been held in India. The members of the national team of Turkmenistan have been making achievements at the tournament since the first day. It should be noted that the Asian Championships gathered 260 weightlifters from 21 countries.Ogulshat Amanova won the first medal for the national team of Turkmenistan at the tournament. She competed in the junior 45-kilogramme weight class event and lifted 65 kilogrammes in snatch and 80 kilogrammes in clean and jerk. Our compatriot won three bronze medals with the result of 145 kilogrammes in total. Gurbandurdy Amanov, Ogulshat's father and coach, played a great role in this success. In India, he represented the national team of Turkmenistan as a coach.

Perhat Bagtyyarov, a representative of the national team, became the vice-champion of Asia. He took part in the 61-kilogramme weight class event. Our compatriot lifted 256 kilogrammes (112 + 144) in total and won a silver medal of the Asian Championships. Not only did the talented Turkmen athlete win three silver medals (snatch, clean and jerk and total), he also earned a bronze medal in the youth event.
