The leaders and representatives of the Observation Missions from the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and the Organisation of Turkic States announced their conclusions and assessments at press conferences for national media and foreign news agencies. According to the general opinion of international observers, the elections of deputies of the Mejlis and members of the velayat, etrap and city halk maslahaty and Gengeshes were held in accordance with the current national electoral legislation and generally recognised norms for holding democratic elections. The Observation Missions recognised the elections in Turkmenistan on March 26 as free, open and valid. Press conferences were held at the Garagum Hotel.
