In the modern history of the Turkmen people, large-scale, fundamental reforms are being implemented successfully in the country to improve the wellbeing of every citizen of Turkmenistan. Their main aspects designed for the near future are stated in the Programme “The Revival of the New Era of the Powerful State: The National Programme of the Socioeconomic Development of Turkmenistan for 2022–2052”. The Programme sets important tasks for the sectors of the national economy to ensure the rapid economic growth and the improvement of the Turkmen people’s welfare.

This will allow achieving the multi-vector and sustainable development of Turkmen economy in 2022 resulting from the continuously growing main macroeconomic indicators in previous periods. In 2021, the volume of GDP increased by 6.2 per cent, production by 7.7 per cent and foreign trade turnover by 20.5 per cent compared to 2020. These impressive figures lay a solid foundation for further economic growth and testify to the well thought-out and thorough planning of the main aspects for the long-term development of Turkmen economy.
