The U14, 16 and 18 Chess Championships of Turkmenistan were organized on February 19–24. Over 100 chess players from all regions of the country took part in the 9-round Swiss-system tournament.

There were expected results in the U18 Championships. The main contenders Amanmuhammet Hommadov (Ashgabat) and Lala Shohradova (Lebap Velayat) defeated their principal opponents – Vepaly Halynyyazov (Lebap Velayat) and Meryem Agajanova (Ashgabat) and won the titles.
