The President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted, ‘Turkmenistan recognizes childhood as an important stage in a person’s life and defines the preparation of the younger generations for a full-fledged life in our society, the development of creativeness, skills, high moral qualities, patriotism and civic consciousness as priority tasks’. Thus, the national heritage, including the national games, assumes a great role in the successful implementation of the abovementioned tasks.
The ancestors of the Turkmen people taught their children to play the national games to ensure that they grew up physically and mentally healthy. These games instilled in children such qualities as composure, resourcefulness, adherence to rules, decency, and patience. These virtues are the most necessary features in life for every person. Our ancestors created a school of education and used it in the upbringing of the younger generations, the brave defenders of the Motherland for centuries. The national games of the Turkmen people are one of the main aspects of this school.
