The bright illustration of the global importance of transport is the adoption of the Resolution “World Sustainable Transport Day” at the initiative of Turkmenistan at the 70th plenary meeting of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly. The Resolution was co-sponsored by 67 countries.

In its resolution, the UN General Assembly invited all UN Member States, international and regional organisations and civil society to commemorate World Sustainable Transport Day by conducting awareness-raising activities and events aimed at enlarging the public knowledge of sustainable transport, in particular by enhancing intermodal transport connectivity, promoting environmentally friendly transportation and developing socially inclusive transport infrastructure.
