The capital hosted an International Forum entitled “Dialogue – a Guarantee of Peace”, timed to coincide with the International Day of Neutrality and the 28th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s gaining permanently neutral status.

The date December 12, 1995 has special significance for the independent Motherland, marking a new era in its history. On this day, the General Assembly of the United Nations unanimously adopted a special Resolution “Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan” – an unprecedented document that approved our country’s unique international legal status, the first in world practice. Embodying the wise philosophy of life and primordial humanistic traditions of the Turkmen people, this status is also fully consistent with the universal values enshrined in the UN Charter.
