The Turkmen melon is a symbol of the fertility of the Turkmen land and evidence of the diligence of Turkmen farmers and a high level of national agriculture.
August is associated with the generous gifts of the fields. As well as nowadays, in ancient calendars this month was the period of the ripening and harvesting of fruits. Scattering on vast fields like rough golden balls, the main delicacy of the Turkmen summer — melon also ripens in this month.
