The European Immunisation Week is held every year in Turkmenistan in the last week of April. Our country, located in the European Region of the World Health Organisation, that has made health protection and disease prevention the state policy priorities, is participating in this region-wide event, initiated by the WHO Regional Office for Europe in 2005 with the aim of improving vaccination coverage by raising awareness of the general public and its groups about the great importance and need for immunisation.
The main idea of the Week is that timely routine vaccination is vital for every child and prevents diseases and protects life.
