This year has been very successful for Turkmen athletes. As reported in the media, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov issued the Order authorising to present a new car – a white Toyota Camry V6 sedan, made in 2023, to a third-year student from the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports of Turkmenistan Shahzadbek Matyakubov, who had won a gold medal at the Junior World Weightlifting Championships, which was held in Leon, Spain.

Our compatriot, a native of the Akdepe etrap, Dashoguz velayat, a representative of the sports dynasty Shahzadbek Matyakubov competed for the title of the strongest weightlifter in the under 102 kg weight category of the prestigious international tournament among juniors under 20 with 13 athletes from 11 countries. The Turkmen athlete won 3 gold medals in each event and set a world junior record in the clean and jerk.
