World Cities Day, established by the UN General Assembly in its resolution in December 2013 to greatly promote the international community’s interest in global urbanization, is celebrated each year on October 31, beginning in 2014. The Resolution also acknowledges the need to push forward cooperation among countries in meeting opportunities addressing challenges of urbanization and contributing to sustainable urban development around the world.
