The number of impressive victories of the Turkmen youth at the global tournaments is increasing thanks to the concern for sports in Turkmenistan in recent years. To date, our country has become a venue for the winter sports events.

Thanks to the initiatives of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and our Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, ice hockey and figure skating have attracted an impressive number of young people in our country. In 2017, the national ice hockey team of Turkmenistan won gold medals in the Division II at the VIII Asian Winter Games held in Sapporo, Japan. Later on, the Turkmen hockey players earned the victory at the qualifying tournament held in Sarajevo in 2018. Since then, the team have been participating in the IIHF World Championships Division III and have won medals on a regular basis. The young ice hockey players achieve success and demonstrate that this sport has a great future in our country.
