The Constitution is the political and legal basis for the development of society at every historical stage. This year we are celebrating the 31st anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of Turkmenistan. Much has changed in the life of our society and state over the years.

The Constitution of independent Turkmenistan was adopted on May 18, 1992. This date is included in the calendar of public holidays as the Day of the Constitution of Turkmenistan and the State Flag of Turkmenistan. The Constitution is the Basic Law of the country. It was adopted during the transitional period of the formation of an independent and sovereign state. The Constitution has proved its viability and relevance and has made a significant contribution to the stability of the domestic political and economic situation. Domestic experience shows that the Constitution of Turkmenistan is a result of the unity of the people and political consent. Being a legal phenomenon, defining the foundations for the organisation and functioning of public authorities and interaction between society and the state, it is a necessary political and legal instrument that reflects its model of the constitutional structure and other vital issues of state and social construction. The Constitution today secures the achieved level of public relations.
