The ceremony of announcing and awarding the winners of the annual competition “Merdana Nesil” took place in the square in front of the Watan cinema and concert centre in Ashgabat. This competition that is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Education and the Central Council of Magtymguly Youth Organisation for several years is held on the eve of the significant date on the calendar – International Neutrality Day and the next, this time 29th anniversary of the day our country obtained the international legal status of permanent neutrality.

The participants of the competition, aimed at fostering patriotism and improving the depth of study into the rich spiritual heritage of the Turkmen people by the younger generation, are 3rd- and 5th-graders, exclusively schoolboys, which is not accidental. They, as future defenders of the Motherland, competed in a worthy manner, demonstrating the high patriotic feeling, spotlighted by their bright performances.
