The Great Silk Road. This is one of the most significant achievements of world civilisation. It not only connected the East and the West, but became a source of mutual enrichment for two civilisations and taught the culture of international dialogue. Being at the crossroads of the Great Silk Road, Turkmenistan fulfilled the mission of a kind of bridge between the ancient centres of world civilisations. And today, realising the importance of the transport component for ensuring sustainable relations between countries, independent neutral Turkmenistan, actively implementing its transport policy, contributes to the strengthening of interstate ties. Turkmenistan has become widely known as a modern international logistics centre along the ancient trade route.

Owing to the geostrategic location of Turkmenistan, several international transport corridors pass through our country. One of them is the TRACECA corridor. Despite the fact that Turkmenistan is not a signatory of the Basic Multilateral Agreement on International Transport for the Development of the Europe– Caucasus–Asia Corridor (BMA), our country is a significant partner of this Programme. Firstly, it helps strengthen the status of our country as the most important transport hub in the region, and secondly, by participating in the Programme, Turkmenistan makes a significant contribution to the revival of the Great Silk Road.
