On July 7, the elections to the Mejlis were held to replace the retired parliamentarians in Garaşsyzlyk electoral district 1, Bitaraplyk electoral district 2 and Köpetdag electoral district 6 in Ashgabat.
According to election observers, the elections were another significant step to implement the progressive policy of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and to cement the democratic foundations of Turkmen society. This important socio-political event vividly showed the active participation of citizens of the country in the affairs of state in the name of a happy future for the country and people.
