In recent years, the in-depth scientific study of raw materials, including aquatic biological resources, has been carried out all over the world. Not so long ago, biological resources of aquatic origin were considered only as raw materials for the production of traditional types of food, fodder and technical products. The results of the study of their composition show that they are sources of various biologically active substances that can be used for the production of pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and productivity stimulants for farm animals and plants. In many countries around the world, industrial cultivation of microalgae is carried out in order to obtain biologically active substances. The main object of cultivation is cyanobacteria of the genus Spirulina, which live naturally in many countries, including the territory of our state.

Research work on the in-depth study of cyanoprokaryota (cyanobacteria) is underway in the biotechnology laboratory of the Technology Centre of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan. The purpose of the work is both the promising use of cyanoprokaryota in bionanotechnologies on the example of living building material and the identification of their diversity and distribution in the regions of Turkmenistan. Currently, scientific research is actively underway to study cyanoprokaryota and its use in industry. Moreover, its use as a building material is one of the new directions in science.
