Test of strength and capabilities The open karate-do championships-2023 for the Cup of the Ahal Velayat fonished at the Olimp secondary sports school in the capital. More than 650 karatekas from 39 sports clubs of the country took part in the competitions. The tournament was organised by the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Physical Education and Sports and the Karate-Do Federation.

A futsal tournament was held for the students of the institutions of higher education of the country within the frameworks of the XII Universiade ‘Turkmenistan – the Home of Health and Inspiration’. Yagshygeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas hosted the decisive matches of the tournament. The team of this institution of higher education won the third place.

Strengthening the global cooperation

The opening of the UNESCO Chair ‘Cultural Heritage: from the past to the future’, established thanks to the cooperation with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) at Magtymguly Turkmen State University, was a historic event. As is known, the creation of UNESCO Chairs in the institutions of higher education of the country will give the opportunity to promote the achievements of the Turkmen science and the national education system to the world. Similar chairs function in the world's most famous universities. It is gratifying that the institutions of higher education of Turkmenistan join this noble work, which was launched on the initiative of our Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and successfully implemented by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The establishment of the Chair was conducted by the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO.

A seminar was held

Representatives of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Turkmenistan, public organizations of the country, coaches and specialists of the sports schools under the State Committee on Physical Culture and Sports of Turkmenistan took part in a seminar, which concluded on February 24. The main goal of the seminar was to promote the principles of gender equality, a healthy lifestyle, emotional freedom, reproductive health and legal awareness of volunteers. The event included a number of impactful speeches.

On the eve of the international events

The Turkmen 3x3 basketball team has left for Druskininkai, the Republic of Lithuania. The basketball players from Turkmenistan will hold the training sessions in the city on February 23 – March 8. The Turkmen delegation in Lithuania consists of 19 people, including in 16 athletes. The training sessions will ensure intensive preparation of the Turkmen basketball players for the large tournaments.

The winners are known

The U14, 16 and 18 Chess Championships of Turkmenistan were organized on February 19–24. Over 100 chess players from all regions of the country took part in the 9-round Swiss-system tournament. There were expected results in the U18 Championships. The main contenders Amanmuhammet Hommadov (Ashgabat) and Lala Shohradova (Lebap Velayat) defeated their principal opponents – Vepaly Halynyyazov (Lebap Velayat) and Meryem Agajanova (Ashgabat) and won the titles.

More than 550 participants from different regions of the republic took part in the competitions held in the capital’s sports complex «Zhar». During the tournament, participants competed for medals in 21 weight categories – 7 each in men’s, women’s and Combat SAMBO.

The meeting of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan and public representatives was rich in historic decisions. At this socio-political event, the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan was established; our Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was elected as the Chairman of this high representative body of the people's power and was recognized as the national leader of the Turkmen people. Those decisions originate from the will of our happy people. World Youth and Junior Sambo Championships to be held in Bishkek

The corresponding decision was made by the members of the Executive Committee of the International SAMBO Federation. Youth (W&W) and juniors (W&W) will take part in Sport SAMBO competitions. In addition, juniors will compete in a Combat SAMBO tournament.

A victory of the popular democracy

The meeting of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan and public representatives, which was held under the chairmanship of our Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in our white marble capital, became a victory of the Turkmen popular democracy. The Constitutional Laws of Turkmenistan ‘On the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan’, ‘On the Amendments and Additions to the Constitution of Turkmenistan’ were adopted at this historic meeting. This fact indicated the adherence to our democratic principles, which were in harmony with the great spiritual, moral, and humanitarian traditions of our ancestors in the revival of the new epoch of the powerful state. The establishment of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, a representative body of the people's power, and the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, a legislative body, was an unforgettable political event in the history of our country.

Ahalteke horse breeding nominated for inclusion in UNESCO Cultural Heritage List

«7/24. tm», № 07 (142), 13.02.2023 Ahalteke horse breeding and horse decorating traditions will be nominated for inscription in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2023. Along with this project, the transnational nomination dossier “Turanian temperate deserts” (Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan) is being prepared. It is planned to nominate several monuments within the Serial Transnational Nomination of the “Silk Roads: Zarafshan-Karakum Corridor”, including the Amul fortress, for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Children of Asia Games is preparing for the start

These days, young short track skaters and figure skaters of Turkmenistan are holding training seasons and preparing for the II Children of Asia Winter International Sports Games. These competitions for children aged 16 and under are to be held in the Kemerovo region (RF) from February 23 till March 5, 2023. The official opening ceremony of the Games will take place at the Kuzbass Ice Palace on February 25. The lynx Tikhonya will become the mascot of the Games. In addition to young athletes from Turkmenistan, athletes from Armenia, Afghanistan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Nepal, Tajikistan, Thailand, Uzbekistan and eight regions of Russia will take part in these prestigious international competitions. In total, the Organising Committee of the Games expects the participation of more than a thousand young athletes, by now about 900 athletes have been registered.
