The President of Turkmenistan: Rational use of land and water resources is the basis of food abundance

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has made a working trip to Ahal Region inspecting production activity of Miwe Open Joint Stock Company and facilities of its engineering and technical infrastructure. Matters related to rational use of water in agricultural complex and water management sphere in general were the subjects of close attention of the head of the state. Comprehensive development of agricultural complex and best optimal implementation of its potential are priorities of economic strategy of Turkmenistan targeted to reformation and modernization of all branches of national economy on innovative basis. Large-scale reforms in agricultural sphere are aimed at its diversification, wide implementation of digital technologies, and increment of production volumes of various quality agricultural products.

Within the framework of a working meeting of the Turkmen-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation held on March 30, 2021, the Chairman of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the head of the Federal Customs Service (Russian Federation) signed a Protocol on the exchange of documents and information on the customs value of goods transported between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation. Chemengul Bayramova, senior inspector at the Department of Law and International Relations of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, commented on the significance of the signed document in an interview with an NT correspondent. Agroindustrial complex: a Key Vector of the Economy

From modest village – to innovative “smart” city

The unique history of Ashgabat began 140 years ago. In 1881, in the village of Askhabad, a border military settlement with a population of 4,000 people (800 yurts) emerged. The past of the main city of our country is connected with many events in its history. One of them is the tragedy of 1948, when Ashgabat was devastated by the earthquake. Then the neighbours came to help the victims, with whom the Turkmen maintained friendly relations from ancient times. Relying on such fraternal support, in a short time the city was cleared of the consequences of the natural disaster. However, the modern history of the city of Ashgabat rightly begins after gaining state independence by Turkmenistan, which has not only influenced the country’s comprehensive development, but also had a direct impact on innovative formation of the capital city’s infrastructure. Glory to You, Veterans!

A solemn event to commemorate the Day of Victory in the 1941–1945 Great Patriotic War was held in the Mekan Palace in Ashgabat. It was organised by the hyakimlik of the capital city together with the Democratic Party, the National Trade Union Centre and the Women’s Union of Turkmenistan. Representatives of ministries and departments, public and political organisations, military personnel of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan and students were invited to a meeting with war veterans and labour ones who forged victory in the rear. The meeting turned out to be solemn and at the same time very touching. The solemnity of the event was given by an exhibition of paintings, united by the theme “Glory to the winners!”, in the foyer, and a military band greeted those gathered with marches and songs of the war years in the hall. Veterans were carefully supported by their arms, escorted to the place and seated by young people. It was very touching and at the same time joyful because our society has not lost the traditional norms of respect for the older generation and gratitude for the feats of arms and labour to those who defended the world from Nazism and participated in the restoration of the national economy destroyed by the war.

Relay of joint master classes continues

Among important initiatives, aimed at the active development of the partnership between the two agricultural universities of Turkmenistan and Armenia, is holding joint distance learning sessions that enrich world outlook and expand professional competence of the lecturers and students. Since 2017, when the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation in the Field of Science, Education, Culture, Sports and Innovations was signed, S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University and the National Agrarian University of the Republic of Armenia have begun the implementation of a long-term plan of joint activities, in which a special mission is given to thematic video lessons on various issues of the development of the agrarian sector of the economy and exchange of best practices for improving methods of training.

1. After undergoing appropriate medical examination, citizens are required to obtain a health certificate for travel. At the time of a medical examination, COVID-19 should be tested within 72 hours upon departure and return. Citizens over 18 years of age, after receiving a voucher, should be vaccinated against COVID-19 10 days before departure in specially designated places (health houses). 2. In order to receive sanatorium treatment at the Avaza sanatorium, citizens of Turkmenistan are required to have a passport of a citizen of Turkmenistan that certifies the identity of a person, a sanatorium voucher issued by a health centre in the place of residence of a citizen, approved by the Ministry of Health and the Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, a COVID-19 vaccination certificate and a certificate of passing the test for COVID-19 upon departure and return right up to receiving special instructions.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a telephone conversation with the King of Bahrain Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa.
