The meeting of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS)

Today, the 15th meeting of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was held in the capital under the chairmanship of National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, member of the Council of Elders of the OTS Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. As known, since 2021 our country has the status of an observer in OTS. The organization of the regular meeting of the Council of Elders, which is an advisory body of the Organization of Turkic States, in Ashgabat, testifies to an active position of Turkmenistan in issues of development of multiplane constructive cooperation in the OTS format. Turkmen people share commonalities, which have been developed by centuries of historical roots, cultural and spiritual traditions, which find their new view in the present period with peoples of countries-participants of the given Organization.

The President of Turkmenistan received the OSCE Secretary General

On March 5, 2024, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe Helga Schmid. The head of state emphasized that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to consolidating efforts to ensure peace, security and sustainable development on the planet, whose foreign policy is based on the principles of positive neutrality. In this regard, one of the priorities is to strengthen interaction with major international organizations such as the OSCE.

The National Leader of the Turkmen people visited an exhibition of Afghan goods and held a business meeting

The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited an exhibition of Afghan goods in the building of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan. During the inspection, Arkadag focused his attention on the stands of Afghan companies involved in the extraction and industrial processing of stones used in construction. In this regard, the readiness of the Turkmen side to consider issues related to the participation of Afghan companies in the construction of the second stage of the city of Arkadag was indicated.

National Games in International Format

In the most famous resort city of Türkiye – Antalya – the Sixth Forum of the World Ethnosport Confederation took place with the participation of representatives of various organisations and federations of national sports games from more than 50 countries, including Turkmenistan. One of the main topics on the agenda was the discussion of the issues of holding the V World Nomad Games to take place in Astana (Kazakhstan) from September 8 to 14 of this year, in which, of course, the national team of our country will take part. It should be particularly noted that many of the sports included in the programme of the above-mentioned competitions are similar to Turkmen national games and amusement activities. For example, in the complex of tournaments, medals will be competed for in five types of belt wrestling – Kazakh “Kazakh kureshi”, “ssirim” (Republic of Korea), Uzbek “kurash”, “aşırtmaly aba güreşi” (Türkiye) and Kyrgyz “alysh”, – the rules of which for the most part close to our goresh. And intellectual competitions in “oware” (West Africa), “mangala” (Turkiye) and “togyzkumalak” (Kazakhstan) are very similar to the Turkmen games “düzzüm” and “takylatdy”. Therefore, our athletes have every chance to collect a large “harvest” of awards in Astana. But let’s return to the Forum in Antalya.

New Vectors of the Development of Transport Routes

A stable trend in the international relations of Turkmenistan with the countries of the world in the period of the Revival of the New Era of the Powerful State has been the expansion of transit corridor routes and, as a result, the development of integration processes. In this context, respected President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, at an extended sitting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, which took place on February 9 of the current year, focusing on the priority tasks for the further development of the industry, instructed to continue work to expand cargo transportation routes and to fully use the potential of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport. The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Turkmen Logistics Association and the Turkmenbashi International Seaport and a joint action plan for 2024 is aimed at implementing the tasks set by the head of state. The documents provide for the implementation of joint measures to inform the international partners of the Turkmen Logistics Association of the technical and technological potential of the Port, benefits and opportunities, created at the Port, and to attract foreign carriers. Thus, this will make it possible to strengthen public-private partnerships to develop the potential of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport and the associated transport and logistics sector.

On February 21, 2024, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with the Vice-President, Deputy Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Minister of Presidential Affairs of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan conveyed greetings to the head of state from the President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and from the Vice President of the UAE, Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, Ruler of the Emirate of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Online Trading is a Key to Digitalisation

Under the wise leadership of the President of Turkmenistan, the economy is transitioning to a digital platform in the compliance of the Conception of the Development of Digital Economy in Turkmenistan in 2019–2025 and the State Programme of the Development of Digital Economy in Turkmenistan for 2021–2025. In particular, practical steps are being taken to expand e-commerce and introduce digital payments for shops and commercial enterprises. Ensuring the wellbeing of the people and food abundance largely depends on success in this area. Online shops and marketplaces are gaining increasing popularity among customers in Turkmenistan. Turkmen businesses are actively experimenting with e-commerce opportunities, expanding the range of services in this segment.

The book of the National Leader of the Turkmen people «Ömrümiň manysynyň dowamaty» was published in Japanese

A new sign of traditionally friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Japan was the publication of the literary and philosophical work of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov «Ömrümiň manysynyň dowamaty» in Japanese. This publication is a kind of symbol of a fruitful interstate dialogue based on mutual goodwill, mutual respect and trust. In the modern epoch, Turkmen-Japanese cooperation has been enriched with new content. An integral component of the bilateral partnership is interaction in the humanitarian and educational sphere, as an important factor in strengthening the bonds of friendship and mutual understanding between countries and peoples, creating an optimal climate for full-scale cooperation that meets the goals of common well-being and prosperity.

Today, the two-day working visit of National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the United Arab Emirates has ended.
