PEOPLE-CENTRED PROGRAMME

The National Programme of the President of Turkmenistan for the improvement of social and living conditions in villages, towns in etraps and etrap centres until 2020 initiated by Hero Arkadag and often called the Village National Programme was successfully implemented since its adoption in 2007, including the implementation of complex measures in different segments of the social sphere and engineering infrastructure to improve social and living conditions of the population. The Programme covered many areas of the Sustainable Development Goals proclaimed at the 70th Session of the UN General Assembly in September 2015. Concern for the younger generations

Thanks to the wise initiatives of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, our Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, an excellent system of state support has been created for raising and educating the younger generations. To date, the work in this field is being successfully implemented under the leadership of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The President of Turkmenistan noted, ‘Happiness and well-being of every nation originates from the concern for the younger generations’. Educating the healthy, hardworking, and patriotic younger generations, strengthening their physical and mental health, and improving the work of educational institutions are among the main priorities of the state programmes implemented nowadays. The kindergartens, primary and secondary schools with all facilities are built and put into operation in the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag and regions of the country. Educational work is being improved, and international cooperation is underway in line with the national principles and international experience.

A valuable guide for young people

The presentation ceremony of the book ‘Ýaşlar – Watanyň daýanjy’ by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov was held at Magtymguly Turkmen State University. The important event was organized at a high level. The officials from the education, science, health, sports, and public organizations, young teachers, experts, scientists, athletes, coaches and students took part in the ceremony. The exhibition organized at the venue highlighted the book by the President of Turkmenistan, the literary works by our Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, national values, works of arts, achievements of young people in various fields, and scientific developments.

The Turkmen youth earned great trust in our epoch. That trust is evident in all spheres of life nowadays. The fact that 2023 was declared the year ‘Happy Youth with Arkadag Serdar’ strengthened that trust and consigned the development of our country to the younger generations. Based on the proposal of the people, 2023 was declared the year ‘Happy Youth with Arkadag Serdar’. This fact indicates strength, unity, stability, peace and new dynamic development for the younger generations. As is known, cooperation for the benefit of the youth has reached new level. The adoption of the Strategy for International Cooperation of the Youth of Turkmenistan for 2023–2030, approved by the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan and aimed at the development of the international youth cooperation based on the national laws and international agreements, was a significant event in this context.

The President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has published his first book ‘Ýaşlar – Watanyň daýanjy’. The President of Turkmenistan announced this news at a working meeting via the digital system with the participation of the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers T.Atahallyev, who supervises the agroindustrial complex, and the hyakims of the velayats. This book will become a valuable guide for professors, lecturers and the younger generations.

WEDDING TRADITIONS AROUND THE WORLD TURKMEN WEDDINGTRADITIONS

A Turkmen wedding is the most important and solemn event. Formany generations, each part of the wedding ceremony is accompanied by special rituals designed to bring happiness  to a new family. Traditional Turkmen wedding ceremonies are celebrated most prominently in rural areas, where the older generation scherish theirýcustoms. What warms the heart is that theseýTurkmen traditions are not fleeting trends but rather robust connections to their ancestral heritage. Each region in Turkmenistan has the unique details of a wedding ceremony influenced by ancient tribal distinctions, making them particularly intriguing for ethnographers, cultural scientists and historians.

The basis for a peaceful life

The independent, permanently neutral Turkmenistan gains high international prestige in the revival of the new epoch of the powerful state. Our country takes an active part in the world's political, economic and cultural life, aims its creative power for the benefit of humanity, makes a worthy contribution to the expansion and promotion of international cooperation, and successfully implements the foreign policy based on the international status of permanent neutrality. The training sessions

The Table Tennis Federation of Turkmenistan organized the training sessions in Ashgabat. The Federation held this important event thanks to the support of the State Committee on Physical Culture and Sports of Turkmenistan and the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF). Thus, the training sessions were conducted under the guidance of Yevgeniy Timchenko, the ITTF expert, the honoured coach of Kazakhstan and the head coach of the youth table tennis team of Kazakhstan.

Dialogue is a Guarantee of Peace and Constructive International Cooperation

The capital hosted an International Forum entitled “Dialogue – a Guarantee of Peace”, timed to coincide with the International Day of Neutrality and the 28th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s gaining permanently neutral status. The date December 12, 1995 has special significance for the independent Motherland, marking a new era in its history. On this day, the General Assembly of the United Nations unanimously adopted a special Resolution “Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan” – an unprecedented document that approved our country’s unique international legal status, the first in world practice. Embodying the wise philosophy of life and primordial humanistic traditions of the Turkmen people, this status is also fully consistent with the universal values enshrined in the UN Charter.

Books represent spiritual treasure

The National Leader of the Turkmen people, our Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov attaches great importance to reading of books, which represent the source of wisdom, and to the work of libraries, the treasuries of wisdom. This fact has a special meaning when people read the literary works by our Hero-Arkadag, because the literacy of our ancestors and their love for reading are reflected in the books by the National Leader of the Turkmen people. At the time of successful development in all spheres, the work of school libraries improves, because the books published in the modern printing centres attract readers with meaning, originality and quality. Those books provide a wide opportunity for the younger generations to explore the world of education, science, and knowledge, and to choose the right and clear path in life.

High level of reparation

This year, the Kurash Wrestling Federation of Turkmenistan created excellent conditions for the preparation of the national team for international tournaments, including in the 2023 World Kurash Wrestling Championship, and organized the training sessions for the Turkmen athletes abroad and in the country. These training sessions were held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, on March 12–21, in Gokdere Valley on April 1–20, at the Asian Championships in the People's Republic of China on April 25–30, in Issyk-Kul Region, the Kyrgyz Republic on July 1–15 and August 24 – September 11, the international tournament for the Issyk-Kul Cup on July 16–17, at the Asian Games (People's Republic of China) on September 23 – October 8, as well as the training sessions in the city of Arkadag on October 20 – November 22.

Welcoming news

The World Cities Day is annually celebrated on October 31. On the same day this year, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization announced welcoming news that Ashgabat joined the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN). This good news made the Turkmen people happy and proud. Turkmenistan develops active cooperation with foreign countries and international organizations. The country's cooperation with the United Nations, which is considered one of the most prestigious organizations in the world, as well as its specialized agencies and committees, has a wide scope. The UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) Programme was founded in 2004. It should be noted that our beautiful capital Ashgabat is the first city in Central Asia to join the Network. That is why our compatriots express their sincere gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

A modern facility

On November 12, the opening ceremony of the modern stable for keeping 600 Ahalteke horses was held near the city of Arkadag, located at the foothills of the Kopetdag Mountains. The total area of the new facility is 15.4 hectares, including several buildings within it. The participants visited the specialist rooms. The facility has a meeting hall, staff canteen and other necessary premises. The purpose of the new complex is to develop horse breeding, to increase the number of thoroughbred horses, and to improve breed characteristics.

The literary talent of our great poet and thinker Magtymguly Pyragy leaves an indelible mark in the hearts of the Turkmen people, as well as the peoples of the world. The President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted, ‘Magtymguly Pyragy, the great poet and thinker of the East, took an eternal place in the hearts of people with his deep poems. The works by the thinker encourage humanity, honesty, and unity and represent priceless heritage for humanity’. These precious words reflect an ocean of creativity of our great poet and an inexhaustible treasure for our people.

Inspiring news

The good news from the headquarters of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Paris, France) was announced at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held on November 2, 2023. The Turkmen capital, Ashgabat, joined the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN), following its designation by UNESCO Director-General on October 31 – the World Cities Day. As is known, Turkmenistan started work in this field in 2021 together with the relevant structures, committees and international experts from UNESCO. Over the years, the international community has recognized Ashgabat as a beautiful, technologically advanced city in the world. The Turkmen capital was developing according to modern international urban standards, and it was given the above-mentioned legal status.
